Policy Grounding
Connect decisions to the organizational policies that govern them.
POLICY-GROUNDED AI GOVERNANCE
Northstar Govern is building a control layer that helps organizations evaluate consequential AI-assisted actions against policy, identify required human oversight, and preserve evidence of how decisions were made.

THE GOVERNANCE GAP
Organizations are introducing AI into workflows involving employees, customers, sensitive data, and business operations. Written policies alone do not always make clear what an AI system should be permitted to do in a specific situation. Northstar is being built to bridge that gap.
HOW NORTHSTAR WORKS
A consequential system or workflow produces a proposed decision.
Relevant policy, risk, authority, evidence, and oversight requirements are surfaced.
Allow, escalate, or deny—with accountable human review when required.
Connect decisions to the organizational policies that govern them.
Surface consequential decisions requiring accountable human review.
Show what policy and supplied evidence contributed to a governance recommendation.
Preserve structured evidence that can help reconstruct how a decision was reached.
WORKING PROTOTYPE
Our current prototype explores how policy-grounded AI governance can work in practice. Evaluate fictional workplace scenarios against sample organizational policies and see how Northstar surfaces relevant policy, decision risk, human review requirements, missing evidence, recommended next steps, and a decision record.

THE VISION
Northstar's long-term goal is to help organizations translate policies and delegated authority into controls that can determine what autonomous systems are authorized to do, when humans must intervene, and what evidence should be preserved.
Policy → AI-assisted decision → Human review → Evidence
AI Agent → Proposed Action → Policy + Authority → Allow / Escalate / Deny → Verifiable Evidence
